Today's tour will take you to meet three homebrewers around Park Slope, Brooklyn. We'll meet veteran brewer Matt Fricovsky and sample his schwarzbier and dark saison, plus small servings of his sour and mixed-fermentation ales.

We'll also mosey over to meet Colleen Davy, who has been brewing for almost 15 years. "My boyfriend at the time got me two gifts for my birthday: a one-gallon Mr. Beer homebrewing kit and my cat, Thor," says Davy, who plans to make an American wheat and New England IPA. "The boyfriend is long gone, and so is the Mr. Beer kit, but my love of brewing and Thor live on."

Rounding out the tour is Laney Vela. She started brewing in 2017 after finishing grad school and finding herself with "too much time on my hands," Vela says. "I tend to brew ales and wheat beers with crazy adjuncts like fruit and waffle cones. I’m always trying new things, and don’t often brew the same beer twice." Vela brewed an orange cranberry witbier, and is looking to use kveik yeast to create a pseudo-lager.

Eat a big lunch. Your guide for this tour is Brett Vanderbrook, a veteran Brooklyn homebrewer. Tour founder Joshua M. Bernstein will likely pop by to share a beer too.
